Good afternoon all,
Does anyone currently have a adult patient lift installed and in use in any of their public washrooms? We have just installed one and there are questions circulating regarding if or how to ensure the users are trained, instructions for use, and liability? Would appreciate any insight or operating procedures you may have in place.
Thanks in advance,

Humber has a few of these, and there seems to be demand to install more. Since there are only a couple of people that need to use them, we have arranged for the installation company to provide training to the user directly. No formal procedures, or liability discussion. But we do have a maintenance contract.

Thank you Spencer. Do you have any signage or details installed at the lift location letting people know they require training or how to use the lift?
If someone needs to use it and requires this training who do they call to be put in touch with the manufacturer?

No signage at all – that’s a good idea!
We hear through our Accessibility Services folks about the students / staff who need it, and we let them coordinate the training. It’s really infrequent, so hasn’t been a big deal so far. My impression is that people who need it normally have an attendant with them, and they are very experienced in using these lifts.
