      Hello OCAPPA community members,

Sault College is looking to upgrade our coin meters and coin operated gates within our visitor lots.

Wondering what each college uses for short-term paid visitor parking and/if anyone has recently completed an RFI/Q soliciting for a similar upgrade?

There seems to be a bunch of options out there.  Any experiences (good or bad) would be appreciated.

      Thank-you in advance,

      Mark

      Good Afternoon Mark,

Within the last year Loyalist has converted to using AIMS mobile pay (AMP) app for all daily pass purchases since removing the main entrance parking / security gate.  Because we already have the AIMS program for monitoring our parking lot it was a fairly easy transition to using the AMP app. We have dedicated 2 parking lots with a geo fence for the app which reduces the amount of time our bylaw officers take to search a lot for unpaid visitors. We do not have an LPR system so the bylaw officers have to manually enter a plate number should a hanging permit not be visible within the 2 parking lots.  We charge $4 for a half day and $8 for a full day, the app charges roughly $.25 per transaction.  If we can get an LPR system approved the app is compatible which will increase our  parking bylaw efficiency.

This system has been working well for us considering we are still learning about its capabilities. One area that has been a challenge is charging for parking for visitors using the College services like our Restaurant, Spa, Physio Therapy and Training programs. To solve this we were able to create Parking Promo Codes that could be handed out from the service provider (Could be considered a free parking pass). Each promo code could then be tracked and back charged to the service account and imbedded into the service fee the visitor is paying for.  We change the Promo Codes periodically to prevent over use.

We created 2 parking kiosks within our main entrances for users to register their vehicle should they not have a smart phone with app capabilities. 2 – iPads and security stand were used.

Overall we are pleased with the program. If you require anymore information glad to jump on a call !

      Mike

      Good afternoon Mark,

We (St. Clair College) have implemented HONK pay by plate app into all of our sites. This integrates with AIMS and has been well received.
